Food safety teams find hygiene, storage violations at several dark stores in Hyderabad
Food safety officials in Hyderabad inspected 20 dark stores operated by major quick-commerce companies, finding hygiene violations and expired food items. The enforcement action aims to ensure compliance with safety standards in the rapidly growing online delivery sector.

Ten teams from TG SAFE Enforcement, comprising food safety and police personnel, conducted surprise inspections at 20 dark stores operated by BigBasket, Blinkit and Zepto in the Core Urban Region (CURE) area of Hyderabad on Saturday (August 22).
The inspections, carried out on the instructions of the Commissioner, TG SAFE, found multiple violations relating to hygiene and storage management at the stores. Officials also found expired food articles at a few stores. Notices were issued to stores found to be violating food safety norms, while food samples were sent for further examination.
The inspections were part of enforcement measures aimed at checking compliance with food safety standards at dark stores, which cater to online and quick-commerce orders.
