Food authority foils supply of dead cow, raids adulterated tea unit

PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has foiled an attempt to supply a dead cow to a butcher shop and raided a unit allegedly involved in the preparation of adulterated tea leaves in Peshawar.

The operations were carried out on the directions of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan as part of the ongoing campaign against substandard, adulterated and unsafe food products.

According to a spokesperson for the authority, a food safety team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a rickshaw in Hayatabad with the assistance of police.

A dead cow was found in the vehicle and was allegedly being transported to a butcher shop located in Hayatabad Super Market. The dead animal and the rickshaw were taken into custody, while the driver was arrested and handed over to the police.
