Flyover sought at Lakshmi Nagar–Konavaikkal junction in Erode

The Tamil Maanila Congress held a demonstration in Erode to demand the construction of a flyover at the Lakshmi Nagar–Konavaikkal junction. Protesters argue that the current road layout lacks direct connectivity, causing inconvenience to motorists.
Why it matters
Local infrastructure disputes highlight the ongoing challenges in regional urban planning and public transport connectivity.
Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) cadre staged a demonstration near Bhavani on Monday (July 20) urging the Union and State governments to construct a flyover at the Lakshmi Nagar–Konavaikkal Ring Road junction on the National Highway.
The protesters alleged that the newly laid Ring Road from Bhavani does not connect directly with the bypass at Konavaikkal. Instead, motorists have to travel up to the Lakshmi Nagar police check-post before joining the route, making the Ring Road inconvenient and limiting its use.
