Met Éireann has upgraded its rain warning for Donegal to Status Orange for a six-hour period tonight (Friday night/Saturday morning), with flooding and damage to homes and businesses among the potential impacts.

The Orange warning will be in force from 1am until 7am on Saturday 12th September 2026 and also covers Galway and Mayo.

A wider Status Yellow rain warning for Donegal remains in place from 9pm tonight, Friday 11th September, until 9am on Saturday morning.

Met Éireann is warning of “very heavy and persistent rain with thunderstorms possible.”
