Five people were killed in a car-truck collision in Assam's Sonitpur district on Saturday (September 12, 2026), police said.

The accident occurred near a petrol pump in the Balipara area under the Rangapara Police Station limits when the car collided head-on with a commercial vehicle, a senior officer said.

"Five people died in the accident. All the deceased were occupants of the car," he said.

The deceased were identified as Har Gobinda Hajoari, Nayan Swargiary, Pappu Bora, Pranjal Bania and Sanjay Mech, all residents of Ghoramari Batabari area in the district, the officer said.
