Five Class VIII students of Government Higher Secondary School in Tharuvaikulam were arrested under the POCSO Act for allegedly subjecting a schoolmate to harassment.

According to an official from the school education department, the five students had allegedly been harassing a Class VIII student and threatened him with further harassment if he informed his parents or teachers. However, a few days ago, the students allegedly harassed him again on the school premises and a teacher who came to know of the incident informed the student’s parents.

The victim’s parents subsequently lodged a complaint at the Vilathikulam All Women Police Station. The police conducted an inquiry and found that the students had allegedly harassed the victim
