The Q Branch police detained five Bangladesh nationals for inquiry during a verification drive at Panickampalayam near Perundurai in Erode district on Tuesday night (July 28, 2026).
The Perundurai SIPCOT Industrial Estate houses more than 100 industrial units and employs thousands of migrant workers, many of whom stay in rented houses in and around Panickampalayam. Based on information that some foreign nationals were residing in the area without valid authorisation, the Q Branch police conducted a surprise inspection. During the operation, five Bangladesh nationals were detained and taken to a police station for verification.
