The Kancheepuram police arrested five persons near Arakkonam on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the double murder during an Aadi festival at Padunelli.
The accused were identified as Bagavathi, 26, Giri, 22, Pushparaj, 29, Kalaiselvan, 19, and Nagaraj, 21. The deceased, V. Neelakandan, 26, and S. Chandru, 26, were allegedly hacked to death following a dispute during the festival in the early hours of Monday.
