Eluru district police in Andhra Pradesh arrested five individuals and dismantled an illegal country-made weapon manufacturing unit. Authorities seized firearms, raw materials, and manufacturing equipment during the operation.
Why it matters
The seizure of illegal weapon manufacturing units is essential for maintaining public safety and preventing the proliferation of unlicensed firearms.
The Eluru district police busted a five-member gang allegedly involved in running a country-made weapon manufacturing unit in Jangareddygudem area and seized five fire arms from their possession.
“The Chintalapudi police led by Jangareddygudem Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B.H. Venkateswarlu and CI T. Kranthi Kumar seized four live cartridges, explosive material, two iron barrel pipes, a welding machine and firearm manufacturing equipment,” Eluru district Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Shiva Kumar told the media on Saturday.
The SP said a police team led by SI K. Satish Kumar, during a vehicle check on the outskirts of Chintalapudi on July 24, detained S. Saibabu and his friend T. Veerababu, who were riding a two-wheeler, for carrying a countrymade weapon.
