A 32-year-old fisherman died after accidentally falling into the sea while fishing in the Arabian Sea near Baitakhol Lighthouse near Karwar in Uttar Kannada on Saturday.

Venkatesha Venkappa Harikanthara of Sasihitlu village in Kumta taluk died of drowning.

He accidentally slipped and fell into the sea while pulling out a net at midnight. The other fishermen in the boat brought the body to Baitakhol in Karwar and later informed his family.

A case has been registered at the Karwar City Police Station.
