Fish video row: Ajay Rai files defamation case against CM Yogi for 'hurting faith'

NEW DELHI: The political row over an alleged “fish feast” at a Congress event in Ayodhya escalated on Tuesday, with Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai filing a defamation case against Yogi Adityanath, alleging that the chief minister's remarks had “hurt his faith.”Rai approached the MP-MLA court in Lucknow, the UP Cong chief also denied eating fish at the event, saying he is a vegetarian. “We do not eat non-vegetarian food. The allegation of a fish feast against me is wrong. The chief minister's statement has hurt my faith,” Rai told ANI.Rai said he had filed the defamation case to seek legal action and challenged the chief minister to produce evidence in court.“Yogi cast aspersions on my character and my dietary habits; he claimed that I visit Hanuman Garhi, apply the tilak and sandalwood paste, and pay obeisance to Lord Ram, only to subsequently feast on fish.
