Despite its importance, there is limited scientific evidence regarding which specific movement characteristics are associated with effective first-touch performance.
In a study published in the journal Football Studies , university soccer players performed a dynamic receive-to-pass task in which they received a pass while running and then immediately made the next pass. Using a 3D motion capture system, researchers at University of Tsukuba examined whole-body and ball kinematics and identified biomechanical factors associated with shorter trap-to-pass times.
