First look: Inside the $1.3 billion renovation of London’s most glamorous new hotel

If you peer through the leafy canopies of Green Park, you’ll spy a grand mansion proudly standing watch. From its Piccadilly vantage point, Cambridge House has welcomed some of the capital’s grandest residents across its threshold, from Queen Victoria and Lawrence of Arabia to author Ian Fleming. For more than two decades, it was home to Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge, then became the townhouse residence of Prime Minister Lord Palmerston, before finally acting as a base for the Naval and Military Club (otherwise infamously known as the In & Out Club). Now, this 18th-century landmark is entering its newest lease of life – this time, as a magnificent, marble-draped hotel.
