First Lady seeks greater protection for schools, teachers, pupils

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called for stronger collective action to protect schools, teachers and students from attacks, warning that violence against educational institutions poses a direct threat to the future of children and communities. Mrs Tinubu made the call on Wednesday in her message commemorating the 2026 International Day to Protect Education from Attack, marked annually on September 9. The First Lady said every Nigerian child deserved the opportunity to learn in a safe environment without fear of violence or disruption. The 2026 commemoration, with the theme, “Education Can Survive Attack”, according to her, provides an opportunity to renew commitment towards safeguarding schools and protecting the right of every child to education.
