First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos said the Pasig River rehabilitation should go beyond cleaning the waterway and include better public spaces and stronger community connections.
Araneta-Marcos has been actively involved in the Pasig River rehabilitation initiative since the early years of the Marcos administration, which launched the inter-agency effort in 2023.
The initiative gained international support in 2025 through a memorandum of understanding with UAE-based Clean Rivers and a $20-million donation from the UAE.
