First indoor 33/11 kV substation in Karimnagar under TGNPDCL jurisdiction technically charged

The Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana has inaugurated its first indoor 33/11 kV substation in Karimnagar. The facility uses advanced SCADA and ester-oil technology to improve power reliability in urban areas with limited space.
Why it matters
Technological upgrades to power infrastructure are essential for meeting rising energy demands in rapidly urbanizing regions.
Indoor substations would significantly help address the shortage of land in urban areas while ensuring quality and reliable power supply to consumers, Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGNPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director K. Varun Reddy said.
He was speaking after technically charging the first indoor 33/11 kV substation in Karimnagar under the TGNPDCL jurisdiction at Telangana Chowk here on Tuesday.
Built at a cost of ₹6.92 crore within an area of just 484 square yards, the substation is equipped with two 8 MVA power transformers using ester-oil technology.
The facility is also equipped with SCADA systems, Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) relays and advanced Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) systems integrated with the Control Centre of the TGNPDCL for remote monitoring of the substation.
