After the launch of the full-fledged land-based export-import (EXIM) cargo operations at Vizhinjam International Seaport on August 18, the first ship exporting cargo sourced from the State has commenced its voyage to Valencia, Spain. According to port authorities, MSC Beryl , carrying the first eight export containers from Vizhinjam seaport, started its voyage to Valencia on Tuesday (September 1, 2026).

The vessel, part of MSC ’s Himalaya service, is expected to berth at Valencia in approximately 20 days, marking another step forward in strengthening Vizhinjam’s direct international export connectivity. Two export containers were from Thiruvananthapuram, while six containers brought from Kochi by road to Vizhinjam were also part of the voyage.
