Emergency responders at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos are currently battling a fire outbreak that erupted at Terminal 2 of the international wing. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the development in an official statement via its official X handle, reassuring passengers and stakeholders that no casualties or losses of life have been recorded from the scene. According to FAAN, the authority’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed following the outbreak and is actively working to completely contain the situation and prevent further damage to infrastructure.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the statement read.
