Fire extinguished at Aramco facility in Jizan, says Saudi Arabia
A fire broke out at a Saudi Aramco refinery facility in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday. No injuries were reported, and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
Why it matters
Jizan's proximity to the Yemeni border and ongoing regional tensions make any incident at critical energy infrastructure a matter of international security concern.
Saudi Aramco’s industrial firefighting teams extinguished a fire that broke out early on Sunday (August 9, 2026) at a facility belonging to the company’s refinery in Jizan, the Saudi Energy Ministry said on X.
“No injuries were reported,” the Ministry said, adding that the “relevant authorities were completing the necessary procedures to deal with the incident”.
The Ministry did not immediately specify the cause of the fire.
Jizan is on the Red Sea near the border with Yemen. There has been no official Saudi confirmation so far that the latest Jazan fire was caused by a Houthi attack.
