Fire crews tackle flat blaze on 17th floor of Poplar tower block

Firefighters successfully brought a blaze under control on the 17th floor of a 22-storey residential tower in Poplar, east London. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire, which resulted in the evacuation of the building.

An investigation is under way into the cause of a fire at a flat on the 17th floor of a 22-storey tower block in east London.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to Blackwall Way in Poplar at around 04:30 BST. Half of the two-room flat and balcony was damaged in the blaze.
