Palanivel, 40, of Chinnaammankudi hamlet, near Thiruvonam, on Sunday died of burns he sustained in a fire accident that took place on July 29 at the hamlet.
According to sources, Palanivel was one of the 8 persons who went to rescue Murugaiyan and his family when the house caught fire on July 29 night. He was admitted at the Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital along with Murugaiyan, his wife, Selvi, his daughter, Abhinaya, who also died of burns.
