FIR alleges manipulation of voter records in Bengaluru’s Malleswaram constituency

Police in Bengaluru have registered an FIR following allegations of voter record manipulation in the Malleswaram constituency. A Congress leader claims that hundreds of legitimate voters were falsely marked as shifted or deceased to facilitate their removal from electoral rolls.

The Vyalikaval police have registered a case following a complaint by Congress leader Anoop Iyengar, alleging irregularities in voter records in Malleswaram constituency.
The FIR was registered on October 2, 2026, under Sections 319(2), 336(2), 340(2), 61(2)(b) and 217(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
According to the FIR, the complaint concerns Polling Station No. 157 in Malleswaram. Mr. Iyengar alleged that records relating to voters were manipulated through Form-7 applicationsm resulting in eligible voters being shown as having been removed or otherwise affected in the electoral records.
The complaint specifically refers to 778 voter entries across several polling parts. “It has come to my notice that, even though the voters had cast their votes, Form-7 applications were submitted showing them as persons who had shifted residence or were otherwise ineligible, with the intention of having their names deleted from the electoral roll,” the complainant stated.
