Final Fantasy XIV Online Releases For Switch 2 On 4th August 2026
Final Fantasy XIV Online is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026. The game is noted for its generous free trial, which allows players to access significant content without paywalls or premium currency requirements.
Why it matters
The release highlights the expansion of high-fidelity MMORPGs onto portable console hardware and the industry trend of 'free-to-play' models that prioritize player retention.
I'll be playing this for sure. I've read quite a lot of good things about it. And the amount of content they give you for free is very generous. It lets you level all available classes and jobs up to level 80. Even once you reach that, you can continue playing, there's no time limit. I've also read the subscription is worth paying for.
