Filipino visa applications jump 20% as demand for non-Schengen destinations surges
Visa applications from the Philippines rose by 20 percent year-on-year from January to August, driven by stronger demand for travel to non-Schengen destinations, according to visa outsourcing company VFS Global.
In a statement on Tuesday, Oct. 6, VFS Global said visa application volumes across all categories increased by 20 percent during the eight-month period compared with the same period last year.
Applications for non-Schengen destinations climbed by a faster 28 percent, while demand for Schengen destinations remained stable.
Australia, Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom (UK) emerged as the most popular non-Schengen destinations among Filipino applicants during the period.
For Schengen destinations, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, and Switzerland were the most popular.
