Madras, June 21: Export of handloom goods formed about 50 per cent of the country’s total exports during 1975-76 and it was expected to be exceeded this year, in spite of the difficulties the industry faced, Mr. Mani Narayanaswami, Development Commissioner for Handlooms, said here to-day. A coded system of classification and fixing standards for the export varieties by voluntary organisations would be useful, he added.
