Fifty years ago | Apples instead of garlands

Vijayawada, September 22: A policy decision of the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet made last week that Ministers on tour should not accept garlands has come into force at once. When the Chief Minister and his colleagues were on a visit to Krishna district this week, the familiar scenes of Ministers being weighted with garlands were absent.

The Chief Minister Mr. J. Vengal Rao, and his colleagues were, however, presented with bouquets and new clothes and taken in a procession to the accompaniment of explosion of crackers. The Government would stop these also shortly, announced the Chief Minister at Nandigama.
