Bangalore, August 2: Karnataka is giving five tmcft. of water to Tamil Nadu as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ to save the kuruvai crop in Thanjavur delta.
The decision was taken this morning by the Chief Minister, Mr. D. Deveraj Urs, in response to a request from Tamil Nadu.
The Karnataka authorities started releasing water in the afternoon. The water is expected to reach Mettur Dam in the next two days.
