Nigerian pharmaceutical firm Fidson Healthcare is among 11 global manufacturers selected to produce generic versions of an influenza antiviral drug. The initiative, led by the Medicines Patent Pool and Roche, aims to improve pandemic preparedness.
Why it matters
Expanding generic manufacturing capacity in developing nations is essential for equitable access to life-saving medications during health crises.
Fidson Healthcare Plc , a Nigerian pharmaceutical manufacturing company, has been selected alongside 10 other manufacturers across nine countries to develop and manufacture generic versions of baloxavirmarboxil, an antiviral treatment for influenza, under a voluntary licensing agreement between the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) and Roche.
