Fertiliser hoarding, black marketing to be curbed in rabi crop season in Rajasthan

Rajasthan's government has established a task force to ensure the transparent and timely distribution of fertilisers to farmers for the upcoming rabi crop season. The state has deployed hundreds of inspectors to prevent hoarding and black marketing of essential agricultural supplies.
Why it matters
Ensuring the availability of fertilisers is essential for food security and the economic stability of the agricultural sector.
The Fertiliser Distribution Regulatory Task Force in Rajasthan on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) gave direction for ensuring timely distribution of full quantity of fertilisers allocated by the Centre during the upcoming rabi crop season. Farmers in the State will get uninterrupted supply of fertilisers in accordance with their demand.
An effective action will also be taken to curb irregularities such as hoarding, black marketing, forced tagging and illegal storage of fertilisers. As many as 744 fertiliser inspectors have been deployed across the State to oversee the task.
Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, who presided over a meeting of the task force here, said the interests of farmers would be safeguarded by ensuring “smooth and transparent” distribution of diammonium phosphate (DAP) and urea. “There will be no shortage of fertilisers during the critical rabi sowing period,” Mr. Srinivas said.
