FDA, CPA seize over GHC4 million non-compliant baby diapers nationwide

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) have seized more than four million pieces of baby diapers in a nationwide market surveillance exercise.

The operation is targeting diapers that are unregistered, unbranded, fake or otherwise fail to meet Ghana’s regulatory requirements.

The latest inspections have taken place in the Western Region, where officials visited businesses in Takoradi and Tarkwa as part of an ongoing campaign to remove non-compliant baby-care products from the market.

Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour Aduhene, Executive Director of Mediation and Arbitration at the Consumer Protection Agency, disclosed the nationwide seizure figure.

He said the exercise is aimed at protecting consumers by ensuring that products on the market meet the required regulatory and safety standards.

The Western Region operation began on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with surveillance teams inspecting shops and business premises in Takoradi before extending the exercise to Tarkwa.
