People of several villages in Shivamogga and Bhadravathi taluk took out a protest march in Shivamogga opposing the proposed ring road project for Holehonnur town, on Friday.

The protesters, gathered under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, took out the march from the private bus stand in the city to the office of assistant director of the Directorate of Town and Country Planning and submitted a memorandum to the officer.

They argued that the proposed project as part of the Road Network Grid Plan was unscientific and it would take out precious lands. Moreover, the project had been proposed without consulting the local people.
