Farmers protesting Bidadi township project detained after road blockade

High drama unfolded near Bairamangala Circle in Bengaluru South district on Friday as farmers protesting against the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township, also known as the Bidadi township project, blocked the Bidadi-Harohalli Road, prompting police intervention.

Over 50 people, including several women farmers, were detained, while the police have yet to decide on filing a case, a senior police officer told The Hindu .

On Friday, over 100 people gathered at Bairamangala Circle, where the farmers were on a hunger strike and had blocked the main road, cutting off connectivity between Bidadi and Harohalli.
