Farmers perform special prayers for rain

Farmers in Theni district performed a Varuna puja at the Veerapandi Gowmariamman Temple, praying for rainfall in the Mullaperiyar dam catchment area and Theni district, on Friday.
Farmers of the Cumbum Valley Water Users’ Association and the public organised a Varuna puja and Yaga ritual. They prayed for rain in the catchment areas of the Mullaperiyar dam, a vital water source for five districts: Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram.
Special ‘abhishekam’ and ‘aaradhana’ were also performed for Goddess Gowmariamman. The farmers prayed for agricultural prosperity and the alleviation of drinking water issues.
