Farmers in Villupuram urged to enroll under crop insurance scheme for Kharif 2026

Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman has urged farmers in the district to enroll under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2026 season to protect themselves against crop losses caused by unforeseen events and ensure income security.
According to a press release, the scheme is being implemented in the district through the Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Limited. The notified crops for the season are paddy, groundnut, pearl millet, banana and tapioca.
