In Nanjangud, farmers led by State Sugarcane Growers’ Association blocked the Mysuru–Ooty highway near the BDO Office for some time by forming a human chain to protest against the order of the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) to release water to Tamil Nadu.
Expressing concern over the directive, the protesting farmers said Karnataka was facing drought-like conditions and farmers were in distress.
The protesters warned that they would intensify their agitation to safeguard the interests of Karnataka and its farmers.
