Farm land survey fee hike put on hold

The Karnataka state government has temporarily suspended a recent hike in land survey fees under the Mojini system. The decision aims to provide relief to farmers currently facing severe drought conditions.
Why it matters
This reflects the government's sensitivity to agrarian distress and the political necessity of balancing revenue generation with the economic stability of the farming community.
Under criticism for increasing fees for various services in the Revenue Department, the State government on Monday decided to temporarily withhold the revised fee for various land survey applications received from the public under the Mojini system of the Department of Survey, Settlement and Land Records. The new fee had come into effect from October 1.
This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara. “In view of the severe drought situation prevailing in the State and keeping farmers’ interests in mind, Mr. Parameshwara directed the officials to temporarily withhold the revised fee for various survey applications received under the Mojini system,” a note said. Earlier, he had defended the hike.
