The deaths of New Zealand man Patrick Tobin and his Irish wife Thomasina Tobin leave “an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved them”, their grieving family say.

In a death notice published in Ireland, the family confirmed the “sudden and tragic” deaths of the couple in a spa pool at a holiday resort in Spain.

They said the couple, who have teenage sons Rhea and Séamus, “will be deeply missed by their children, their families, relatives and many friends”.

They added that Patrick, originally from Wellington, New Zealand, had extended family in Ireland, the UK “and beyond”, as well as back home.

The family said the couple “shared a life filled with love, family and friendship”.
