Family members of a Mayiladuthurai fisherman who was injured allegedly in a firing in Saudi Arabia while fishing recently have petitioned the district administration seeking assistance in his early repatriation.
The injured fisherman, Sankar of Keezhamoovarkarai village in the district, is said to be undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Sankar was part of a group of four fishermen that was fishing in Saudi Arabia last week. One of the fishermen identified as P. Maveeran of Thoduvai was killed in the firing.
