F1 news: Red Bull and Laurent Mekies announce contract extension

Red Bull Formula 1 team principal Laurent Mekies has signed a long-term contract extension keeping him with the team through 2031. This follows a period of improved performance for the team and driver Max Verstappen.
Why it matters
Stability in leadership is critical for F1 teams as they navigate competitive seasons and shifting driver standings.
Earlier this season, Red Bull announced that Max Verstappen had signed a new deal with the team, to keep him at Milton Keynes through at least the 2030 season.
Now, his boss has put pen to paper on a similar deal.
Red Bull confirmed on Wednesday a new long-term contract for team principal Laurent Mekies, that will keep him with the Formula 1 team through the 2031 season. The news comes as Red Bull has found improved form with the RB22, as Verstappen has won the last two races: The Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, and the Singapore Grand Prix.
