Expo of John Mandeen’s images of life in and around Auroville under way in Puducherry

An exhibition at Alliance Francaise in Puducherry showcases the photography of the late John Mandeen, who documented the evolution of Auroville since 1968. The collection captures the sensitivity of human life and the natural world over four decades.

Alliance Francaise is hosting an exhibition of photographs captured by late photographer John Mandeen.
Mandeen, who grew up in California came to Pondicherry in 1968. He was accepted by the Mother (Mirra Alfassa) as an Ashramite at the age of 24. For over four decades, Mr. Mandeen, through his camera, captured the evolution of the international township, in vivid images of the life in and around Auroville. He has also documented the construction of Matrimandir from its early stages.
