Expired products seized during inspection of ice cream units in Karnataka

Food safety officials in Karnataka conducted a statewide inspection of 45 ice cream manufacturing units, seizing expired products and identifying unhygienic conditions. The drive resulted in the collection of 70 samples for laboratory testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Expired food products were seized from two ice cream establishments in Bengaluru during a Statewide inspection drive on October 8 covering 45 manufacturing units. Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) officials also found unhygienic conditions at a unit in Raichur, and labelling violations at units in Bengaluru and Mysuru.
The officials collected 70 samples of ice cream and ingredients, including milk, milk powder, flavouring substances, sugar, and food additives, for testing in government laboratories.
At Savara Ice Cream Café in Jayanagar 3rd Block, officials seized expired Britannia Marigold biscuits, Nandini Samrudhi milk, tea, and coffee mixes, and desiccated coconut powder.
At M.N. Enterprises at Bilekahalli on Bannerghatta Road, expired products, including plain caramel, Nestle Milkmaid, and Milky Mist khova, were seized. Officials also found deficiencies in labelling.
