Why it matters
It underscores the importance of local government accountability and the implementation of state-level welfare initiatives.
Government officials should act swiftly to resolve public grievances and ensure that welfare schemes reach all sections of society, Prasad Abbayya, Hubballi-Dharwad East MLA, said on Saturday (September 12).
Inaugurating the Praja Seva Andolana event for Hubballi urban taluk at Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Community Hall in Hubballi, Mr. Abbayya said the Praja Seva Department had been established to take government services to people’s doorsteps.
“Praja Seva is about ensuring that government facilities and benefits reach ordinary citizens. Officials should personally visit people’s homes, understand their problems and take prompt action,” he said.
He stressed that farmers, women, students and other sections should not be deprived of government schemes. Officials should discharge their duties honestly and without discrimination, he said.
