Expedite pending TDR issuance across all zones: GVMC chief

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has ordered officials to expedite pending Transferable Development Rights (TDR) issuances and improve urban management. The directive includes stricter enforcement against unauthorized construction and road encroachments.
Why it matters
This administrative push aims to improve urban infrastructure efficiency and transparency in municipal governance.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg on Monday directed Town Planning officials to expedite the issuance of pending Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and streamline citizen services across all zones within the stipulated time.
Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at the GVMC headquarters alongside Chief City Planner A. Prabhakar Rao, Mr. Garg emphasised the need for greater transparency and accountability. He instructed the chief city planner to conduct an audit on all pending TDR cases across the GVMC zones, resolve procedural bottlenecks, and submit an action-taken report without any delay.
The Commissioner mandated stronger field-level monitoring to curb unauthorised constructions and road encroachments. He instructed officials to ensure builders adhere strictly to the sanctioned blueprints, keep construction materials within the premises, install mandatory green safety mats, and construct rainwater harvesting pits.
He warned that dumping debris on the roads and footpaths would attract strict penalties.
