EXIM cargo operations at Vizhinjam to open a new chapter in Keralam’s development, says Chief Minister

The Arabian Sea, which has shaped the lives of the people of Keralam for centuries, is opening a new chapter in the State’s development with the launch of the full-fledged land-based export-import (EXIM) cargo operations at Vizhinjam International Seaport on August 18, 2026.
According to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, Vizhinjam, which has put Keralam on the global maritime trade map, is entering its most crucial phase with the commencement of the EXIM cargo operations.
The first EXIM container will be flagged off in a grand ceremony at the port gate at 10.45 a.m. on Tuesday (August 18, 2026). The occasion will also witness the announcement and logo launch of ‘Mission Samudra’, the Keralam government’s flagship port-led industrial and logistics initiative.
