Ex-Butambala MP Kivumbi granted Shs3m cash bail

Former Butambala County legislator Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi has been granted bail by Butambala Chief Magistrate's Court after meeting conditions set by Grade One Magistrate Amina Wahab.
Court ordered Kivumbi, 55, to pay Shs3m cash. His sureties were ordered to execute non-cash bonds of Shs2m each.
Kivumbi, who is also National Unity Platform (NUP) vice president for Buganda, is facing charges related to inciting violence and managing an unlawful society.
Prosecution alleges he made statements encouraging the public to rise against government at a gathering in Butambala in July 2026.
