Everything to expect from the Digital Government Africa Summit 2026

Kampala will host the 2026 Digital Government Africa Summit to discuss the integration of technology into public administration. The event focuses on practical implementation of digital services, data sovereignty, and AI in government.
Why it matters
It addresses the critical challenge of how African nations can modernize governance and protect citizen data in an increasingly digital global landscape.
From October 6th to 8th, Kampala will host the fourth edition of the Digital Government Africa Summit 2026, bringing together government ministers, ICT authorities, regulators, technology companies, development partners and innovators to discuss a deceptively simple question: what should an African government look like in the digital age?
How should a citizen prove who they are online? Can someone start a business, pay taxes, obtain a licence, access healthcare or apply for a government service without carrying documents between offices? Should government data sit in foreign clouds or sovereign infrastructure? How should ministries safely share information? Where does artificial intelligence belong in public administration? And as more government services move online, who protects the enormous volumes of citizen data being generated?
These are no longer distant technology debates.
They are questions about how governments themselves will operate.
That is what gives the Digital Government Africa Summit 2026 its significance.
