Ether’s biggest corporate holders back new Ethereum research hub

Former Ethereum Foundation contributors have launched Ethlabs, a new research organization backed by major crypto firms and industry leaders. This move signals a shift toward a decentralized, multi-node development model for the Ethereum network.
Why it matters
The creation of independent research hubs suggests a significant structural evolution in how major blockchain protocols are governed and developed outside of central foundations.
Ethlabs, announced on Monday, is funded by two of the largest Ethereum treasury firms SharpLink Gaming (SBET), Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), alongside with Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joe Lubin and several other entities including Anchorage Digital, Octant and SNZ.
The report provides a neutral overview of organizational changes within the crypto industry without taking a stance on the efficacy of the new model.
