Estate of late Streetheart singer Kenny Shields suing current band members

Julia Marie Shields — the daughter of Streetheart frontman Kenny Shields, who died in 2017 at age 69 — alleges his estate is owed benefits that include profits from Streetheart performances and merchandise, according to a statement of claim filed in Manitoba's Court of King's Bench on Aug. 31.

The claim says that Kenny Shields held a one-quarter contractual and beneficial interest in the band's name and trademark, according to a 2015 agreement he had with his bandmates.

Shields was a founding member of the band, which formed in Regina but soon relocated to Winnipeg in the late 1970s, going on to win a Juno Award in 1980 for "most promising group of the year" and garnering airplay for songs like What Kind of Love is This and a cover of the Rolling Stones song Under My Thumb .
