ESIC floats ₹134-crore tender for 100-bed hospital in Nellore

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has issued a ₹134-crore tender for a new 100-bed hospital in Nellore. The project aims to improve healthcare access for unorganised sector workers in the region.
Why it matters
This infrastructure development addresses a critical need for medical facilities for low-income workers, reflecting government efforts to expand social welfare.
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has issued a tender notification for the construction of a 100-bed ESI hospital at the SPSR Nellore district headquarters at an estimated cost of ₹134 crore.
The deadline for submission of bids is November 3, 2026, at noon. The bids will be opened on November 4 at noon.
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy has been pursuing the project for the past two years, citing the interests of local workers. “Once the 100-bed ESI hospital becomes operational, quality medical services will be accessible to thousands of unorganised sector workers and their families in the region,” he said.
In August 2024, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy wrote to the District Collector seeking the establishment of an ESI hospital in Nellore. He subsequently met Union Minister for Labour Mansukh Mandaviya in November 2024 and requested him to take steps to set up the hospital.
