Eshwarappa, son in talks with BJP leaders on returning to party
Former Karnataka Minister K.S. Eshwarappa is in negotiations with BJP leadership regarding his potential return to the party. He has stipulated that either he or his son must be granted a ticket to contest the Shivamogga assembly seat.
Why it matters
This reflects internal political maneuvering and the influence of regional leaders on party candidate selection ahead of upcoming elections.
Stating that senior leaders of the BJP had contacted him over his return to the party fold, former Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has made it clear that either he or his son would contest in the upcoming Assembly election from Shivamogga seat.
Speaking at a press conference in Shivamogga on Friday, Mr. Eshwarappa, who was expelled from the BJP in 2024, said that senior leaders of the party had been in touch with him and his son K.E. Kanthesh, a former zilla panchayat member. “We have made our stand clear. My son has conveyed to the leaders that either of us will contest the election. He has also told the BJP leaders that I should be travelling across the State to strengthen the organisation,” he said.
